songs in the classroom
I find songs are an excellent tool for the teaching of English and what´ñs more adollescents love them. I have started using them once a week as part of the listening practice and my students are fascinated. Listening comprehension has turned into their most favourite skill to practise. I takes quite a lot of time preparing them, though. Luckily I have recently discovered a website which is full of them
www.englishcoach.com.ar
It is free and very good.

Re: songs in the classroom
I agree with you. Some years ago I organised my students into teams and asked them to prepare a lesson with a song. They had to present it orally in front of the class by giving information about its composer or the singer, its style ,or a little bit about the content of the lyrics. They also had to prepare the copies of the song with some listening exercises for their classmates; lead the activity and do the correction in a 40 min. period of class. They loved doing it!!! Another idea was using the karaoke to make them practise reading aloud, pronunciation and selfconfidence! Try it! Now with the laptops is easier!!
